FREE CPR Course MCYC (Elk Grove)

The AHA BLS Provider course teaches healthcare professionals how to save lives in emergency situations. It lasts around 3-4 hours and can be taken in person. Students learn how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, use an AED, help choking victims, and recognize and manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies. After completing the course, students receive a certification card that is valid for two years.

The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider course aims to teach healthcare professionals how to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction. The objectives of the AHA BLS Provider course include:

  1. Understanding the importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
  2. Understanding the steps for performing high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  3. Understanding the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and the importance of early defibrillation
  4. Recognizing and providing initial care for respiratory and cardiac emergencies, including choking, heart attack, and stroke
  5. Understanding the importance of effective team communication and collaboration during resuscitation efforts
  6. Understanding the AHA Chain of Survival and how to apply it in emergency situations
  7. Recognizing the signs of opioid overdose and performing appropriate resuscitation measures
  8. Understanding the importance of taking care of oneself and dealing with stress during resuscitation efforts. These objectives are designed to help healthcare professionals develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective care during life-threatening emergencies.
