The California Dental Assistant Program (CDAP) is a forward-thinking initiative dedicated to providing comprehensive resources for dental assistants, pre-dental students, and other aspiring dental professionals. We focus on creating educational tools, databases, job training modules, and simulations that enhance learning and job preparedness in the dental field.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Web Developer Intern to support the development of innovative online tools and platforms within the organization. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in web development, especially in an educational or healthcare-related setting. The intern will work closely with the team to contribute to a variety of web projects aimed at enhancing learning, training, and resource access.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications related to the above projects.
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement and test new features, enhancements, and optimizations.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to ensure project alignment and success.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
• Ensure websites and applications are mobile-responsive, secure, and user-friendly.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, etc.) and/or back-end technologies (Node.js, Python, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of database management (SQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Understanding of web performance optimization (caching, compression, etc.).
• Experience with web frameworks (e.g., Django, Express, etc.) is a plus.
• Familiarity with version control (GitHub, GitLab) and collaborative development tools.
• Experience with UX/UI design tools (Figma, Adobe XD) is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Interest in the dental field, education, or healthcare is a plus.

Interview Process

1. Application Review:
   • Submit your resume, cover letter, and a portfolio of relevant projects (if available). Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
2. Initial Screening Call (20-30 minutes):
   • A brief phone call with HR to discuss your background, interest in the role, and availability.
3. Technical Interview (1 hour):
   • A remote interview with a member of our development team. It will include coding exercises, technical questions, and discussions about past projects and experience.
4. Project-Based Assessment (2-3 days):
   • Candidates will be given a short web development project to complete, simulating tasks related to the intern role (e.g., building a small tool or resolving a web issue).
5. Final Interview (30-45 minutes):
   • An interview with the program director or a senior team member to discuss your fit with our team culture, your long-term goals, and your interest in dental education.
