Course Objectives

  1. Raising awareness: To increase understanding and awareness of what constitutes sexual harassment, including the various forms it can take, such as quid pro quo and hostile work environment harassment.
  2. Legal framework: To educate participants about the federal and state laws that prohibit sexual harassment, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), as well as the legal consequences for both individuals and organizations involved.
  3. Prevention: To provide guidance on the best practices and strategies for preventing sexual harassment in the workplace, including creating a respectful work environment, implementing clear policies and procedures, and providing regular training.
  4. Reporting and responding: To inform participants about the appropriate steps to take when they experience or witness sexual harassment, including how to report incidents and the importance of supporting victims.
  5. Role of supervisors and managers: To educate supervisors and managers on their responsibilities in preventing harassment, handling complaints, conducting investigations, and taking appropriate corrective actions.
  6. Retaliation prevention: To inform participants about the legal protections against retaliation for reporting sexual harassment or participating in related investigations, as well as the importance of creating a safe environment for employees to voice their concerns.
  7. Remedies and resources: To educate participants on the remedies and resources available to victims of sexual harassment, including legal avenues for seeking justice and support services for coping with the emotional impact of harassment.
